10th day of Eleint Discord Logs

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:06 PM
So… as I’m familiar with Silverymoon.. is there a temple for lathandar, or any other good gods around here? I don’t think we should LR if Nash has been cursed by Lycanthropy.

DMYesterday at 8:07 PM
Yes, there is 11 temples in Silverymoon, including one for Lathanderites, Rhyester’s Matins

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:07 PM
Ok, Nash.. lets get you to the lathandarites.

DMYesterday at 8:07 PM
With your introduction letter, you could get an audience and the clerics taking care of a remove curse tonight.

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:08 PM
I would also tell the lathandarites of Brother Lucious and the events in Deadsnows. I will give them Lucious’ prayer book.

DMYesterday at 8:08 PM
that will be a full mundane activity, as they are asking you many questions.

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:09 PM
that’s fine.. I’ll force march this. its important

DMYesterday at 8:09 PM
Ok, in exchange they offer you and your friends lodging for the night
You mentions the death of Marek?

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:09 PM
I have no desire to lie to them about anything.

AvraeBOTYesterday at 8:10 PM

Baelfyre removes 1 Holy Symbol ( Lathandar ) ( 0.5 lb ) from their boh!

For help with your bags, use !bag help

DMYesterday at 8:10 PM
So your friend hear about the Abbey and the secret passage, the place where the aberrations came from?

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:11 PM

DMYesterday at 8:11 PM
the visit of Lady Dalhlia and Chiwyll?

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:12 PM
Yes. Lady Dalhia, Chiwyll, and grimshaw.

DMYesterday at 8:12 PM
the magic wagon, and the vistani connections..

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:12 PM
I’ve removed Lucious’ prayerbook from my OP inventory.

DMYesterday at 8:12 PM
ok, you can make a few CON checks

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:12 PM
yes.. the vistani threat.

AvraeBOTYesterday at 8:12 PM
Baelfyre makes a Constitution check!
1d20 (10) + 2 = 12

Baelfyre makes a Constitution check!
1d20 (4) + 2 = 6

Baelfyre makes a Constitution check!
1d20 (17) + 2 = 19

Baelfyre makes a Constitution check!
1d20 (10) + 2 = 12

DMYesterday at 8:14 PM
ok, so you tell all among the four hours in the evening, sharing all the details with them. They ask you if you have brought back any of the books and documents of the lathanderites?

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:15 PM
Alas, my attempts to sneak back into the tower after the coup failed, and I wasn’t able to recover anything from inside. We tried going through the secret passage, but they had it trapped, and we were nearly killed.
I’ll also mention, that this letter I have, which introduces me, and mentions my favorable deeds… My friend Amitreene also had one prior to her kidnapping and capture to Lord Zalto. We’re seeking a powerful magic user that can aid us in recovering her.. any ideas, or contacts would be appreciated.

DMYesterday at 8:19 PM
Unfortunately, the powerful that remains have their hands full. The Death curse has taken a lot of capable adventurers, and the Great Hosts has mobilized a bunch of others. They have themselves to think about reestablishing an outpost. The Lathanderites had an outpost in Deadsnows to monitor the danger of the Vordrorn Forest

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:19 PM
The death curse is actually what I’m questing to solve..

DMYesterday at 8:19 PM
as fighting undeath is their main focus, and the vordrorn forest is a very dangerous place, psossibly connected to the negative energy plane, the source of all undeath.

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:20 PM
good to know.

DMYesterday at 8:21 PM
do you tell them Amitreene is a fey?

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:22 PM
[ what do I know about the lathandarites feelings about the fey? ]

DMYesterday at 8:22 PM
make a religion check

AvraeBOTYesterday at 8:22 PM
Baelfyre makes a Religion check!
1d20 (6) + 3 = 9

DMYesterday at 8:25 PM
you do not know.
do you tell them about Joren an his connection to the Khelbites?

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:40 PM
Yes. She a fey, and she is a princess, and she wants to solve the death curse. Whoever is instrumental in her release, would earn the gratitude of a princess, and possibly a future queen.
They don’t need to know about Joren.
unless they specifically ask about it.
but I would imagine that the talk is about everything that happened in Deadsnows.. from killing the dragon.. the Zhentarim plots with the dragon, and the fire giants.. Lady Daliha, and grimshaw… Marek.. the events leading to his death, the coup, lucious story. They don’t need to know about the treasure kerfufel with the halflings.
and I’ll casually ask about Tearn and the change in local leadership, and if they know where he might be found.
I’ll let them know that my priorities are to free Amitreene, and then solve the death curse.
Oh.. right.. Joren’s visions were tied to that..
so yeah.. I’ll tell them about Joren.

DMYesterday at 8:47 PM
they ask how you knew him, where he was from, and how he ended up in the tomb… they ask a few questiosn to confirm that Amitreene and Grimshaw are indeed the depicted people that Khelbites are refering too.

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:48 PM
I’ll mention that my companions and I were staying in Khelb as I’m from the area, and they were interested in seeing historical things, and went into the tomb of Khelb. and that’s how this whole thing started.
and tell them what I knew about Joren.

DMYesterday at 8:50 PM
So you are mentioning the Lich?

BaelfyreYesterday at 8:53 PM
Yes.. and my suspicious that it is Aceranjack [the lich] who is responsible for the death curse.
[given that we have so little to go on, and the lathandarites would probably give almost anything to have the death curse gone.. … seems like its good to be open with them]

DMYesterday at 8:59 PM
So they ask how did you come upon this suspicion and this name?
[Of course, both Edwin and Nash listens in too, building rapidly their knowledge about these events since the beginning of the year]

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:00 PM
[ I HOPE they’re listening ]
Joren was studying a bunch of books. Between his vision in the tomb and the books, he had the original suspicioin.
I’ll show them “Ancient Chronicles” and “Travels to Shanatar”

DMYesterday at 9:01 PM
they ask specifically for the books he was studying, asking if you have them?

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:01 PM
and Tome Mysangarion

DMYesterday at 9:02 PM
[travel to Shanatar was the dwarven book found in the Stone Tooth, not one of Joren’s book]

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:03 PM
ah.. then not that one.

DMYesterday at 9:04 PM
They ask you if you were aware of the history of the Tomb of Khelb

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:05 PM
[ so, do you want Jared’s horrible memory version of what bael might know of what his mother told him of her adventures, or do you want to be super cool and say what Bael remembers from his youth? ]

DMYesterday at 9:06 PM
I am just checking if bael tells what he knows about the stolen artefacts..

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:07 PM
Bael will tell them of 3 artifacts..
but won’t mention that taern has the sword.
He will tell him about the yaun-ti (that Rastaputka told him)
Its suspicious that the 3 artifacts are khelbian, and the death curse seems to be related..

DMYesterday at 9:08 PM
Are you mentioning her journey to Pedestal?

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:09 PM
I will tell them that I spoke with an adventure that was part of the original group chasing the artifact 100 years ago..
(the relation to rastaputka is not important, but the knowledge of the location is)

DMYesterday at 9:09 PM
when the tomb was pillaged.. ok

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:09 PM

DMYesterday at 9:09 PM
They return to Joren, They ask if you know if Joren has done any research or has been in contact with anyone in the region?

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:09 PM
So my info is original source material.. not rumors.

DMYesterday at 9:10 PM

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:10 PM
There is a difference between know that a piece of information came from someone that was there… versus hearing a rumor that has been passed through storytellers.
My information about the artifacts in pedestal is legit.

DMYesterday at 9:11 PM
oh I see, you are refering to rastaputka, ok..

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:12 PM
[ would you rather read the bible? or know what one of the disciples actually thought? ]

DMYesterday at 9:12 PM
got it…
They ask if you know if Joren has done any research or has been in contact with anyone in the region?

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:12 PM
[ I’m full of analogies. ]
right.. I don’t know exactly who Joren was in touch with prior to meeting meeting him.. I think he might have spoken with the Harpers.. and I think he might know Esklindrar Lol.
of yartar.

DMYesterday at 9:14 PM
do you show them the opened letter?

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:14 PM
[ i need leads… we’re so hopeless right now ]

DMYesterday at 9:15 PM
Are there any other books Joren was studying?
[they now know he was a scholar at candlekeep and a cleric of Deiner]

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:17 PM
[ there were two other books I think I gave to the wizard in deadsnows, in addition to the spellbooks he stole from me ]
[ my history doesn’t go back far enough to get the titles ]

DMYesterday at 9:18 PM
you would remember their names, the Chronicles of the Nine stars and the Star Walker Prophecies, the first book being damaged.

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:20 PM
Right.. the two books that seemed the most relevant.. sigh

DMYesterday at 9:22 PM
they are extremely interested when you mention the name of their author…
anything else you remember about Joren studies or the occurences in or around the Tomb?

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:25 PM
Not that I can think of. I do know that Amitreene was much closer to Joren than I was. She might know more.. but I can’t guarantee it. Of course, we could ask her, if she were here….

DMYesterday at 9:25 PM
And you say this Amitreene is the princess of the Khelbites?

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:27 PM
She is the princess the Khelbites refer to. I sure she doesn’t even know there is an entire religion involving her, and really, i don’t think she would be impressed.
Of the 3, the betrayer is the one that I think would have likely let this whole religious nonsense go to their head.

DMYesterday at 9:42 PM
They also ask about where Joren is buried…

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:43 PM
Ah, Joren was buried with honors by the Lathandarites in Deadsnows.
He was a local hero as a part of a group that killed the dragon Nightscale.
You might want to keep that close the vest.. if the khelbites learn about that.. they might make a really big deal about it..

DMYesterday at 9:55 PM
The clerics offer you lodging and food for the night, asking for you to stay in the morning, as they will have a few more questions.

BaelfyreYesterday at 9:57 PM

DMYesterday at 10:03 PM
Ok, so have spent the night over there, and in the morning, you lose a mundane activity as the clerics are obviously going through the documents and books provided by Baelfyre. You are politely asked to stay available, and you are treated with a visit of the temple, that includes seeing the Tomb of Lathander’s Chosen from the first century of the 4th Age, their prophet named Rhyester (hence the name of the Temple, Rhyester matin). You learned that Ryester founded this temple, and became the first Lathanderite prophet.

Rhyester was born blind; however, at dawn on Ches 1 of 717 DR, he miraculously received his sight. In response to his healing, although only a young boy at the time, Rhyester helped found a crude temple to Lathander in Silverymoon, called Lathander’s Dawn. In 760 DR, Rhyester preached his famous “Sermon of the Eclipse”, spoken during the solar eclipse that year. The sermon used the Dawn Cataclysm as an example of how lessons can be learned from failures. Rhyester wrote out the sermon in advance, but only an excerpt survived, which you can see preserved in a precious encasing deep into the temple, a Lathanderite relic. Rhyester died of natural causes in the Year of the Aurumvorax, 773 DR. He was buried beneath the first temple that he founded, and it was renamed Rhyester’s Matins in his honor within a year.

BaelfyreYesterday at 10:42 PM
Edwin and Nash, what are your plans?

EdwinYesterday at 10:48 PM
I may go back to Everlund to finish my training and report in the Khelbites. I also want to report on the Lich and join back up with you to seek it out.

BaelfyreYesterday at 10:49 PM
Ok. I found a place to train with advantage. I also want to see how much help the Lathandarites can give us to get Amitreene and fight the death curse.
It sounds like we’re heading back to deadsnows eventually. I think we can send messages to each other via travelers between everlund and Silverymoon. you can send them to the Blade, and I can send them to your keep.
For when we decide which course of action we want to take.
I’m thinking that we may also want to get that teleport scroll.

EdwinYesterday at 10:51 PM
@DM is there a place in Silverymoon where i can do some research on this Lich?
If you give me or nash the money for the scroll we can go buy it for you. (I don’t know if nash is staying or going)

BaelfyreYesterday at 10:55 PM
Right.. I think if Nash is going, I can give him a note and the money.. The wizard’s assistant met Nash.. so that should be fine.

EdwinYesterday at 10:55 PM
During my next rest I can prepare a spell of Sending as well, which might make brief communication easier while we are separated

BaelfyreYesterday at 10:57 PM
oh.. Cool.. If you fire off that spell every night, or every other night. we should be able to stay in sync with each other..

DMYesterday at 11:11 PM
There are plenty of Libraries in Silverymoon, with a very good reputations

EdwinYesterday at 11:11 PM
How would i determine the best place to go? Ask Bael?

DMYesterday at 11:12 PM
just head to the libraries and start researching, those are main activities, and you know that Silverymoon probably has the best libraries after Candlekeep…

EdwinYesterday at 11:13 PM
I will do that today while i am here

DMYesterday at 11:13 PM
By mid morning, you are gathered by the Lathanderites to an ornate room, for the meeting they were busy preparing while treating you tot he tour of their temple.

EdwinYesterday at 11:14 PM
I will see what i can discover before heading back to Everlund

DMYesterday at 11:14 PM
you spend the next mundane activity of the day in that meeting.

BaelfyreYesterday at 11:14 PM
is this the second mundane of the day?

DMYesterday at 11:14 PM
[we willd o that tomorrow.. going afk]

AvraeBOTToday at 7:33 AM

Ervyn says
“Baelfyre, what do you know about Grimshaw and his family? Where’s he from or May what business he had? I want to try and look for him”

Baelfyre says
“He was from Everlund as far as I know. He mother lives/lived there, though I don’t know exactly where in the town.”

AvraeBOTToday at 8:16 AM

Ervyn says
“I’ll help Edwin in his search in libraries for now.”

Ervyn says
“But one of the highest interests of mine is to find that Grimshaw. Justice is waiting for him”

Baelfyre says
I have a feeling we’re going to end up back in that crypt in the Vordorn forrest outside of Deadsnows.

AvraeBOTToday at 8:34 AM

Baelfyre says
Where that necromancer you were hunting was known to have been.

AvraeBOTToday at 8:45 AM

Ervyn says
“First things first”

BaelfyreToday at 8:48 AM
[ Lets pretend Jared was drunk… “they are extremely interested when you mention the name of their author…” Who did Baelfyre say the author was? ]

AvraeBOTToday at 11:42 AM

Baelfyre’s clothing worn
This character is wearing fine cloth.

Cloths and cloaks also helps protect a character from natural cold as per the camp home rule.

Bookkeeping | fine none yes

DMToday at 1:43 PM
[The author name was Augathra, the author of the two prophecies books.]

AvraeBOTToday at 2:24 PM

Baelfyre says
Lathandarites. We sincerely want to end the death curse. We plan to spend a little time preparing, and then will quest to destroy Acer<cough>jack who Joren had visions about. We know that the forest outside of deadsnows is known by another name “Glad’oigurth”, and the prime material plane connects to the negative energy plane. Nash here, and another guy we met, Kal Blackbow, were both chansing Dzur’Gule a known necromancer who is trying to become a lich, around that area. We don’t have a location for Acer<cough>jack, though. I don’t know if Lich’s and wannabe-Lichs help each other out.. That forest is not a fun place to be. We really could use help.. Holy weapons, magical protections from undead, Amitreene, you know.. lots of things. Please consider how you can help us, as we’ve helped you with this knowledge.

DMToday at 2:36 PM
We all want to end the death curse, and since the name of Acererak has been associated to it, many scholars are now focused to learn more about him. For today, we have some guests that want to dig more into the information you shared with us yesterday. They have requested your testimony (talking to Baelfyre) be done under a zone of truth. Will you accept?

BaelfyreToday at 2:38 PM
I am open to the idea, who are your guests?

DMToday at 2:43 PM
They have asked to to be introduced only after we assure them you have accepted the zone of truth.

BaelfyreToday at 2:46 PM
I accept the zone of truth and will speak of anything that has happened since I met Joren, and of my knowledge regarding the events of the khelbian artifacts from 100 years ago. Deviate outside of this, and I will remain silent. Good enough?

DMToday at 2:48 PM
You do have the right to remain silent at any time. It is just that these allies require insurances.

BaelfyreToday at 2:48 PM
sure. deal.

DMToday at 2:52 PM
One of the cleric casts a zone of truth in the area where you sit for your testimony, and you feel the magic and submit to it.
He then signal the others clerics, already seated with Edwin and Nash on the benches around the center of the room.
One of them opens a side door, and a cleric wearing the same holy symbol Joren did enter the room, followed by a half elf woman of obvious noble upbringing.

BaelfyreToday at 3:01 PM
[ I put on my nice clothes.. btw ]
[ I look dashing and respectable ]

DMToday at 3:09 PM
Baelfyre look very nice, and Edwin and Nash do take notice for the first time of his fancy new clothes.

BaelfyreToday at 3:10 PM
I just look good..

DMToday at 3:15 PM
The cleric introduces the two newcomers. Head Librarian Tiso Cusesh and priest of Deneir, and Erollidan Uvatharaearr, Security Advisor to High Lord Methrammar Aerasumé.

AvraeBOTToday at 3:16 PM

Baelfyre says
Good afternoon Madame, and Sir.

DMToday at 3:22 PM
They all salute and sit, then Zass Fen, the high priest of Lathander that you chatted at length with the day before introduces you and your friends.
“We are all here about the facts that Baelfyre brought to our attention. I had a talk this morning with our High Inquisitor, Lade Dahlia of Waterdeep, as well as a few others to confirm what we already knew of his story”
He gives a precise recapitulation of everything he learned the night before, and turn to the new guests
“You have asked to be present for the questions. Baelfyre is here in good faith and under a Zone of truth he willingly submitted to.”

DMToday at 3:29 PM
Tiso, the priest of Deneir, speaks first, having in front of him the letter and the three books Baelfyre brought to their attention
“Joren was one of ours, and had joined the ranks of the Keepers of Deneir. This tome (he shows the Tome of Mysangarion) is a very very precious tome, and the original from Candlekeep, trusted to the good care of your friend. We can’t say how precious this Tome is , and having it recovered in good shape is something we thank you for, Sir Baelfyre.
Of the two other books, one is a copy done by our scribes, and the other a travel log of little value

AvraeBOTToday at 3:31 PM

Baelfyre says
Please, just Baelfyre. While I often have noble actions, I haven’t been knighted.

DMToday at 3:31 PM
I understand Joren has passed. Did you recover a magical candle, by any chance?

AvraeBOTToday at 3:33 PM

Baelfyre says
Yes, and an incense block of his. I have been carrying despite the horrific ordeals that i’ve been through.

Baelfyre removes 1 Tome Mysangarion from their sash!

For help with your bags, use !bag help

Baelfyre says
Would you like the candle back?

DMToday at 3:37 PM
Yes, please, this Candle is a Candle of the Keeper, entrusted to members of our Church. Thank you for recovering it. It is precious.

AvraeBOTToday at 3:37 PM

Baelfyre removes 1 candle from their boh!

For help with your bags, use !bag help

Baelfyre says
I do hope you’ll keep that in mind when I ask for help after this testimony.

Baelfyre says
A periapt of wound closure would be precious to me. <wink>

DMToday at 3:39 PM
Joren was studying the work of Augathra, a seer from the early years of the 4th Age. You said he had two books from her with him? We know he took the Star Walker prophecies from Candlekeep, this book also a copy, the original being safe among the Keepers, but do you know how he came to the second Book, the Prophecies of the Nine Stars?

BaelfyreToday at 3:41 PM
[ DM did he get that from the dwarven durgendin stronghold? ]

DMToday at 3:43 PM
[No, from all the books there, the travel log was part of it, and the others were in dwarven and were taken in the wagon by Grimshaw.
He had that other book before and was studying it in khelb before the Stone Tooth. Unless he told you, you do not know where he got it from]

AvraeBOTToday at 3:47 PM

Baelfyre says
I don’t know where he got the Prophecies book

DMToday at 3:54 PM
This is unfortunate that these books are not in your possession anymore. The Ancient Chronicles book Joren had was a copy, and he annotated it with a few comment. I know the Star Walker prophecies also was a copy, so there is a good chance it has some of his notes too, and that could bring some insight about his study. Joren was focused on the works of Augathra the Mad. Unlike his colleagues, who studied the prophecies of Alundo instead, Joren believed there were secrets to discover from the work of Augathra, a Seer that is often overlooked by the scholars, but has given us the Roll of Years. Augathra has a very esoteric way of writing, but each book corresponded to one year…

NashToday at 3:56 PM
[Nash will do whatever Edwin needs help with, after this talk]

DMToday at 3:56 PM
Interestingly, the year of the Star Walker is next year, 1490DR, so we know he was studying her prophecies for next year. The year of the Nine Stars was 657DR, and there is a curious coincidence there…
657DR is also the year where the story of Khelb unfolded..
So I believe it was no coincidence that Joren went to visit the tomb of Khelb. We know he spent quite some time in the libraries past winter, and went to visit the tomb once, before deciding to return West with the first caravan of the years. What I do not undertsnad, and may be you can shed some light here, is why did he came to the Tomb a second time when he had visited it once already before?

AvraeBOTToday at 4:06 PM

Baelfyre says
There was a group of us traveling together. Grimshaw and Amitreene the other two I believe referred to by the new religion, hadn’t been to the tomb, and as we were in khleb resting, they decided to go have a look. Joren didn’t push the group there at all, it was my direction that took the group. We had just saved two girls from the Zhentarim in Everlund, and took them to Khelb to protect them.

DMToday at 4:15 PM
well, this brings us to this letter then [and he shows Esklindrar’s letter]. Unfortunately, Esklindrar has passed away of old age at the end of Tarsakh. He was running a book shop in Yartar. But before that, when Lady Alustriel was still High Lady, he was the Master of the House of Maps here, before the conclave regrouped all the houses of knowledge. Interestingly, all the documented stories about Khelb have mostly been traced back to him. When the tomb was rediscovered after the pillaging, he compiled all the known information and updated and referenced it, but we now have reasons to doubt the story…
he pauses for effect…
We believe the story of Khelb is fake

AvraeBOTToday at 4:16 PM

Baelfyre [stares blankly]

DMToday at 4:18 PM
And we believe Esklindrar participated to hide that fact, making all the sources in our libraries match the magical content that is in the Tomb. Furthermore, we believe Joren was on to this, and as is his duty serving Deneir was working to find out the real truth behind it. Did he allude to anything to that effect?

AvraeBOTToday at 4:20 PM

Baelfyre says
No. Joren wasn’t what I would call a [air quote] people person [ end air quote]. He didn’t speak of his studies. Can you elaborate as to what part of the Khelb story you’re saying is fabricated. Are you talking about what khelb did when he was alive?

DMToday at 4:27 PM
We now believe Khelb never existed. When the tomb was rediscovered, before the SpellPlague, Esklindrar was tasked as master of the map House to reference and document all the old references we could find from that time where Khelb supposedly saved Silverymoon, and he did. What we believe he did is in fact bury the real truth, as we could not find any evidences of it in any other places we studied these past months. There was never a humanoid attack in or around Silverymoon around 657DR.

AvraeBOTToday at 4:29 PM

Baelfyre says
What about the 3 Khelbian artifacts. The sword, rod, and crown? It is a fact that at least 2 of the 3 exist, and there is special connection between them.

EdwinToday at 4:30 PM
[can Edwin chime in or is this meant to just be them and Bael?]

AvraeBOTToday at 4:31 PM

Baelfyre says
Was Esklindrar investing in mushroom futures, and he created these stories to affect the economy? That seems really really far-fetched.

DMToday at 4:34 PM
[You all are guests here, and obviously the Lathanderites are treated Edwin and Nash as representants of the Order of the Gauntlet]

BaelfyreToday at 4:35 PM
[ so yes, what’s on your mind ]

DMToday at 4:35 PM
[Edwin and Nash are not in the Zone of truth, they are on the bench around like the other dignitaries present]

BaelfyreToday at 4:37 PM
[ Would that stop them from asking questions? ]

DMToday at 4:38 PM
[nope, they can ask away or contribute]
Well, documents were found describing the story of Khelb dating back to the 7th century of the fourth age, a time long before Esklindrar was born, and Silverymoon was ruled by High Lord Ecamane Truesilver. The old walls you see near the market place are the remnant of the walls that were built around 640DR. Silverymoon at the time was not as it is today, but was growing rapidly. It was nicknamed at the time the new myth Drannor. Truesilver is the one that began a tradition of fostering learning and sharing culture among the people. He and his nine apprentices founded a library, to accompany the settlement’s school, and that I now have the privilege to be the High Librarian for.
So Esklindrar did not create the story, he just reinfroced its credibility, and we don’t know why…

AvraeBOTToday at 4:42 PM

Edwin says
Nash and I visited the tomb of Khelb. And while I was skeptical throughout, I must inquire… to what end or benefit do you suspect would Esklindrar have to fabricate this story?

DMToday at 4:44 PM
This is a mystery, and why we believe Joren was on to it. He did not report the fabrication to us, as he should have, and we believe he may have been in the process of finding facts to expose the truth, as I can’t believe he would not have reported such fabrication otherwise
This is what Esklindrar wrote in his recommendation letter for Joren to the Harpers, and he reads the letter aloud..
Dear Harper,

This letter is to recommend my friend Joren, who handed you this letter, as a good friend and someone to trust . Joren is on an important fact finding mission about a prophecy that may come to bear within the next year and may need your help to advance his research. He is a scholar of Candlekeep and a priest of Deiner, and has my full trust regarding the gathering of knowledge for the greater good.

My name is Esklindrar lol, and I held the title of Master of the Map House in Silverymoon for many decades, before it was turned over to the Conclave. You can check my credentials with Lady Alustriel herself if you are not familiar with my name.

Thank you for any help you will bring to my friend!

So it seems clear that Joren has shared information with Esklindrar about the Prophecy of the Star Walker as Esklindrar mentions a “prophecy that may come to bear within the next year”. Baelfyre, is there is anything you can remember from what Joren said or did that could relate to this?

BaelfyreToday at 4:52 PM
[ DM, I’m not trying to withhold anything about joren.. but I really don’t think joren said anything, He mentioned a timetable, but he was vague about it. ]

DMToday at 4:52 PM
[This is RP… you dont need to meta.. just say what baelfyre would say]

BaelfyreToday at 4:54 PM
[yes but there might be a difference between what Bael remembers and what Jared does ]

DMToday at 4:54 PM
[sorry, not in my games.. if Jared is forgetful, so is baelfyre..]

AvraeBOTToday at 4:55 PM

Baelfyre says
Joren was vague about a timetable, and couldn’t produce any numbers that could be used to even convince us that what he was working on was urgent.

DMToday at 4:57 PM
This is understandable. Joren had focused his studies on a topic many in our church consider frivolous, so he was probably mocked a lot. You see the prophecies of Alundo have been proven many times, by Augathra’s prophecies not as much. her writings are very very esoteric, and most our scholars focus on Alundo work instead. Joren would probably have kept things close to his chest just for these reasons

AvraeBOTToday at 4:59 PM

Baelfyre says
Well, you have the fire giants of Iron Slagg to thank for Joren’s fate. These are the same guys that have Amitreene prisoner. Were it not for them, Joren would be alive, and we’d be having a completely different conversation

DMToday at 5:00 PM
The High librarian nods slowly, then asks
“So you say it is a fact that 2 out of the three artefacts in the Tomb of Khelb exist. What do you mean by that?”

AvraeBOTToday at 5:08 PM

Baelfyre says
In the tomb, at least the original tomb 100 years ago, there were three artifacts with the statue of Khelb. There was a sword, a rod/staff, and a crown. The three artifacts belong together, to the point that the bearer of sword can divine the direction of the next closest artifact. I know one of the adventurers in the group that tried to recover the artifacts from the original pillagers. They recovered the sword, and were using it to divine the location of the next artfiact. They followed it through the Underdark to a place called Pedestal, where eventually a portal opened and some Yuan-ti took the artifact through the portal and then it closed. After the portal closed, the sword no longer pointed the way. They never discovered why the attraction was gone. Maybe it was taken to another plane, or just so far away, that the pull isn’t noticeable. Anyway, My point is that whatever stories Esklindrar created. The artifacts actually exists. When discussing the artifacts with Joren, it sounded like the artifacts might match those in possession of the Acercak. I think that we, joren included, came to believe that the artifacts could be the key to finding the location of the Lich.

DMToday at 5:09 PM
A long silence follows these revelations…
The high Priest of Lathander breaks the silnece first, and asks
“How come this has never surfaced? Who was that adventurer that you know?”

AvraeBOTToday at 5:17 PM

Baelfyre says
“Who would believe such a fantastic story? Until the death curse showed up months ago, who would have cared? The group of adventurers changed a bit between the original discovery of the tomb’s desecration during a wedding in village of Khelb, and when the survivors surfaced from the underdark months later. The sword doesn’t work for everyone (much like the light in the tomb apparently). After changing hands after some of the adventurers fell, it ended up in the hands of an elven fighter/ranger. She is the one who told me the story, and I’ve seen the sword for myself [ or did she pass it on before i was born? ], Her name is Rastaputka. You didn’t hear of it because she never sought glory. She did what was right. She protected khelb, and then passed the sword on to someone she believed would do good with it.”

DMToday at 5:21 PM
[She passed it before you were born]
the High Librarian then asks
“Who did she pass the sword too?”

AvraeBOTToday at 5:29 PM

Baelfyre says
“I’m hesitant to say as it will likely affect Silverymoon politics, and I’m not 100 percent sure that the sword will be the answer that we seek, though I’m hopeful. I am guessing that you will approach whoever I name (honestly obviously), and ask for the sword, or to at least test this theory of it pointing to the direction of another artifact. If I name him, I’d like to ask that he be invited here, with the sword, and that I be the first to test the sword, followed by my colleagues Nash, and Edwin. I do know what was said or promised between Rastaputka and this man, so I cannot tell you if he even knows the history I spoke of. It may be that she only told him to use the sword to protect the area. If you agree to let the 3 of us test the sword first, I’ll give you his name.”

DMToday at 5:32 PM
The elven advisor immediately perks up
“What do you mean it will likely affect Silverymoon’s politics? are you saying that sword was given by this Rastaputka to someone in Silvevrymoon?”
The High Librarian then interjects before Baelfyre can respond
“Was it the sword that the Khelbites are depicting into their graffiti? the sword with a bear-head shaped pommel?
One of the thing that we have studied since the rise of the Khelbites is that some of them have seen real people, one wearing a crown of light, one a sword and one a staff, and they naturally made the assumption that they were connected to the old legend”
He consults his numerous notes before continuing..
“We now know that Joren was the one with the crown of light, your friend Amitreene the elven lady with the staff, and this Grimshaw the one with the sword.. Is that who she gave the sword too?”

AvraeBOTToday at 5:54 PM

Baelfyre says
The sword was given to someone in silverymoon before my birth. Rastaputka is my mother. If I have your promise for testing the three of us, I’ll tell you who she gave it to. The grafitti matches the artifacts, my two friends, and Grimshaw. Grimshaw is a known vistani which Lady Dahlia can speak to. He showed up in Everlund several months ago and failed to return a missing Everlund girl that he was tasked with returning, and said nothing of her fate to anyone there. In addition, I’ve lost contact with Rastaputka about the same time that grimshaw showed up here again. I am worried that he is responsible for her disappearance as well. Now, I’m concerned that he may have taken the sword from the bearer. Again, if I have your promise, and if he still even has the sword, I’ll tell you who has it. If he no longer has the sword, I’ll quest to retrieve it… because unless there is something you’re not telling yet, its our best lead to solve the death curse problem.

DMToday at 6:00 PM
The assembled crowd digest the information, then the elven advisor says..
“We can’t speak for the current bearer of the sword, but why do you think that testing the sword will make any difference now, if the sword lost its tracking on the other artefacts in the underdark city you spoke of?”
“And why that bearer could not have recovered the other artefacts already if he has the sword?”

AvraeBOTToday at 6:07 PM

Baelfyre says
I believe the sword can be held by anyone, but it only ‘works’ for someone it choses. I don’t know the relationship the current bearer has with the sword. Maybe he felt it and has chosen to do nothing, or maybe he hasn’t felt anything and is going to be horribly offended by all of this. Rastaputka lost the tracking of the item 100 years ago. Who knows if the other items were brought back. Furthermore, given how desperate we are, face it, we are, the sword should likely be taken to the Vordorn forest and into the negative plane. If the lich has the items, perhaps its in the negative plane, and the sword will guide the way on the other side? I’m not a master magician, or an researcher… so I’m guessing. But if the sword were in my possession, or if I was given the opportunity, This is what I would do… hells, I’m probably going to do it anyway until I hear a better idea.. But it would be nice to have the sword and this group’s blessing and support to do this. We all want the death curse solved. So, promise me that we 3 will test the sword first, and if it responds to any of us, you’ll allow us to leave with it to try to solve this problem for everyone.

Baelfyre says
“Furthermore, how many other adventures are already as deep in this as I am? I’ve got a track record of good deeds. Lady Dahlia likely heard of the death of the black dragon Nightscale, when she was in Deadsnows. You’re welcome, by the way.”

AvraeBOTToday at 6:21 PM

Edwin says
I can vouch for Baelfyre. I believe his intentions to be honorable in this matter. I, for one, welcome a chance to join him in the name of the Order, and rid us of this curse for good.

AvraeBOTToday at 6:29 PM
Baelfyre makes a Persuasion check!

BaelfyreToday at 6:31 PM
[if that’s on the fence, I can try harder]

DMToday at 6:32 PM
Zass looks at Edwin and the others, then says, pensively
“We can’t speak for the current bearer of the sword, but I for one would agree that as the son of one of its previous bearer, we will do our best to convince him or her to test your theory”
the others look at Baelfyre, the High Librarian agreeing quickly, the advisor hesitating a bit then nodding too…
[this check is you trying as hard as you can  ]
[checks are not done twice, unless you provide new compelling arguments that can help forward. The check illustrates the consequence of what you just said.]

AvraeBOTToday at 6:35 PM

Baelfyre says
If you’re all in agreement, then I suggest we invite Taern Hornblade to come and consult with us, and bring his sword.

DMToday at 6:36 PM
A gasp crosses the room, incredulity showing on everyone’s face..
“Taern Hornblade is the one that your mother gave the sword to?”

AvraeBOTToday at 6:37 PM

Baelfyre says
I swear by this zone of truth, that for my entire life, my mother has always told me (repeatedly) that she gave him the sword.

DMToday at 6:38 PM
The advisor recovers from the shock, and says
“This matter needs to be brought to High Lord Methramar at once. As you know Taern as been removed from the High Lordship. I am asking for adjourning the meeting and reconvening in a few hours…

EdwinToday at 7:17 PM
[is there enough time between meetings for Edwin to do some research? i want to find out where Acererak was last seen in the realm]

The advisor requests for a specific cloistering security protocol in her absence, that the clerics of Lathander acknowledge. Everyone but the advisor remains in this closed room, while some acolytes bring food and refreshment as the advisor leaves the room. A few incantation done indicates that this room must have some kind of magical wards and protections, temporirely deactivated.
Once the acolytes are out again, the High Librarian asks for all your attention.
“We have not had our follow up discussion about your request, Zass, but given the revelations provided today and before the High Lord joins us, I think I can give you the summary of what we have found so far about Acererak. I believe that given the knowledge already shared, this company is already within the need-to-know as, if I am not mistaken, your church obtained that name from the visit of your inquisitor in Deadsnows and her meeting there…”
The Lathanderite looks at Baelfyre, and acquiesces.
“This is fine, yes. The Order should be brought to speed on what you learned too. I trust Edwin and Nash here will do their reporting. Go ahead, Tiso.”

DMToday at 3:00 AM
The High Librarian clears his throat..
“Acererak is a necromancer that was born on the world of Oearth, and was tutored in the dark arts by the Lich Vecna. We have found out that under his mentor’s guidance, he has transformed into a Lich himself centuries ago, the timeline still being researched. We believe he has now reached arch-lichdom, and is probably one of the most gifted necromancer that ever existed. One thing we have discovered is that he has a reputation from creating deadly tombs in different worlds, spending countless resources, magic and time to that end. All the research so far have indicated that these undertakings were for him to study adventurers, pitting them against deadly traps for the sole pleasure of observation, experimentation, or necromancy, we are not sure…
Well, a new theory is being studied now by our scholars, and we believe these places in each world may have been built with an even more sinister purpose. As you know already, we have discovered that the Death Curse is not affecting only our world, Toril, but every known world on the Prime Material Plane is also affected. As we are now investigating a direct relation between Acererak and the Death Curse, some in our ranks are thinking that these “Tombs” of his may have been prepared over the past centuries for the purpose of spreading the Death Curse, we do not know how, nor why, or where those hidden tombs are located, but this is an intriguing thought, and we are currently focusing our research more in that direction.
Now, there has been no specific findings about a possible association between Acererak and the Khelbian artefacts, and until today, no research done even about what these artefacts are, as we were not even aware of their existence. As this is the involvement of Taern Hornblade with this sword that is bringing the highest authorities here, I’d like to keep our focus for when the High Lord joins us on the artefacts strictly, and our theory about the possible Tombs of Acererak being related to the Death Curse a strictly classified information for the moment. Do you agree Zass?"
The Lathanderite takes some time to respond, then finally agree
“I think this is wisest at the moment.”
He looks at the three of you to confirm your agreement too, his frown and concern showing on his face clearly indicating how serious this matter is.
